Abstract: POSTPONED UNTIL SPRING: Before attempting to answer the question stated in the title, it is only natural that we establish when a subset of $\mathbb{C}^n$ is polynomially convex or rationally convex. In our talk, once we give the definitions of polynomially and rationally convex subsets of $\mathbb{C}^n$, we continue by discussing their properties. After some historical and motivational material, we provide an answer to the question stated in the title. During the last ten to fifteen minutes of the talk we discuss an original result regarding rationally convex immersions in $\mathbb{C}^n$.
