MSCS 509 | | Pull-back problem for analytic varieties

| | | Abstract: Given the germ of a finite holomorphic map (F,0): (C^n, 0) -----> (C^n,0) and germ of a subvariety (W,0) in the co-domain, we are looking for geometric properties of the pullback germ (F^{-1}(W), 0) such that, if the pullback germ has the said property then (W,0) too shall possess it. After looking at some examples, we shall list such properties (with proofs): irreducibility, normality, prefactoriality, smoothness (with necessary modifications) and non-singularity( with modifications). The talk is based on papers by Dr. Lebl, P. Ebenfelt and L Rothschild, L. Giraldo and R. Roeder. |
