The projective line from a Diophantine geometer's perspective Harry Schmidt, University of Basel Host: John Doyle Please contact John Doyle (john.r.doyle@okstate.edu) for the Zoom link.
Abstract: The projective line boast uncountably many endomorphisms in each degree which makes it an interesting object from a dynamical point of view. Systematic work on its dynamical systems goes back at least to the beginning of the last century. More recently dynamical systems on the projective line have been studied intensively from a number theoretic point of view.
I will talk about my recent work with Mavraki as well as my recent work with Habegger. They are concerned with proving extensions of results known for algebraic groups to dynamical systems.
