Abstract: Abelian varieties, and their moduli spaces, are central objects of study in number theory and algebraic geometry. In this talk, we'll see several possible linear-algebraic methods for studying abelian varieties. We'll also see applications of these methods to answer concrete questions about specific abelian varieties. (This talk is suitable for graduate students!)
