The structure of Bruhat intervals of Coxeter groups
Ed Richmond, Oklahoma State University
[Abstract] [PDF]
Abstract: Coxeter groups play an important role in the representation theory and geometry of Lie groups. Each Coxeter group is equipped with a partial order called the Bruhat order. In this talk, we will look at some questions surrounding intervals in Bruhat order, explain how their structure is connected with the geometry of flag varieties and how certain combinatorial conditions can capture geometric properties of Schubert subvarieties of the flag variety.
