Abstract: In 1971 Dwork introduced the unit root L-function, a p-adic analytic function which studies the variation of the unit root in a family of algebraic varieties over a finite field. He later conjectured that such functions should be p-adic meromorphic. This was proven by Wan in a series of papers in 2000. Very little beyond this is known. In this talk we discuss some recent results.
