Discontinuous Galerkin Methods and Analysis for Elliptic Partial Differential Equations (Part I: Mathematical Preliminaries and DG Formulations) Xu Zhang, Oklahoma State University
Abstract: In these seminar series, I will discuss the formulation and analysis of a family of primal discontinuous Galerkin (DG) methods applied to second-order elliptic partial differential equations. In the first talk, we will introduce the mathematical preliminaries including Sobolev spaces, trace inequalities, and the approximation properties of DG spaces. We will then talk about the model problem and its weak formulation. Finally, we will derive the discontinuous Galerkin method for the model problem.
