Abstract: Given a representation of a group we can restrict the representation of the group to a representation of the subgroup. In this talk I will introduce induced representation where we go the opposite way, so given a representation of a subgroup we can extend it to a representation of the larger group. We will also discuss properties of induced representations including Frobenius Reciprocity and discuss unitary representations. This talk is based off the notes we are following this semester by Dr. Fiona Murnaghan on Representations of Reductive p-adic Groups.
