Abstract: The Chern-Moser theory gives a complete list of biholomorphic invariants of nondegenerate real hypersurfaces, which many researchers successfully used to classify proper holomorphic maps between balls. We attempt to use this theory to find a degree bound on rational proper maps between $\mathbb{B}_2$ and $\mathbb{B}_4$ and classify such maps of degree 3.
