Topology Seminar 4:00 PM MSCS 514 Circle packings and discrete Ricci flows on surfaces Yanwen Luo, OSU Abstract: Originally introduced by Thurston for the construction of hyperbolic 3-orbifolds, circle packings on surfaces provide a framework for the discretization of conformal maps between surfaces. In this talk, we explore this theory to establish a discrete analogue of the uniformization theorem by discrete Ricci flow.
