Tue, Oct 27, 2026 Topology Seminar 4:00 PM MSCS 514 Discrete groups and Structures in Hyperbolic 3-Manifolds Shane Redmond, OSU Abstract ⌄ PDF Abstract: I will cover how the definition(s) of discrete groups arise naturally in the study of complete hyperbolic 3 manifolds and how these two ideas connect. Using this connection, we can get an explicit description of the "thin" parts of any of these spaces. The tone will be casual, and many theorems will be presented without proof.
