Working seminar: SnapPy - software to deal with hyperbolic manifolds
Neil Hoffman
[Abstract] [PDF]
Abstract: SnapPy is a software package used to study hyperbolic manifolds. This seminar is meant to serve as a primer for using snappy. We will discuss how to get started with snappy, what it is doing under the hood, and some common tricks for getting snappy to identify manifolds and deal with censuses.

It will be useful to bring a laptop with snappy installed from https://www.math.uic.edu/t3m/SnapPy/

M. Culler, N. M. Dunfield, M. Goerner, and J. R. Weeks, SnapPy, a computer program for studying the geometry and topology of 3-manifolds, http://snappy.computop.org

Working seminars are meant to focus on a method or question, as opposed to a technical result. The target audience is beginning graduate students.
