Abstract: This talk shall discuss a generalization of a problem of Montgomery and Shapiro from the American Mathematical Monthly. The goal is to establish a criterion for when $\binom{z}{k}$, where $z$ is a $p$-adic integer and $k$ is a nonnegative integer, is not divisible by the prime $p$ based on the $p$-adic expansions of $z$ and $k$.
