This is an announcement for the paper "Projections and the Kadison-Singer Problem" by Peter G. Casazza, Dan Edidin, Deepti Kalra and Vern I. Paulsen. Abstract: We prove some new equivalences of the paving conjecture and obtain some estimates on the paving constants. In addition we give a new family of counterexamples to one of the Akemann-Anderson conjectures.
