Abstract: We show that the free Banach lattice FBL$[E]$ generated by a Banach space $E$ satisfies the countable chain condition, and if the Banach space $E$ is moreover weakly compactly generated, then FBL$[E]$ satisifes Knaster's condition $K_2$.
