Math ed majors,
Did you know that if you complete the minimum requirements for a
Secondary Education degree with the Mathematics option making a grade of
C or better in each mathematics course, then you will have completed all
requirements for a second major in mathematics? Declaring math as a
second major makes you eligible for mathematics scholarship funds.
The only thing you have to do in order to have the Second Major in
Mathematics appear on your transcript is to complete the attached forms.
*declare-math.pdf*: This should be completed and filed now. All you
need to do is complete the information at the top of the form and bring
it to my office (MSCS 425) for my signature. (If I am not in, you can
drop the form off in MSCS 401. ) We will do the rest.
**finished.pdf: **This form is to be completed and filed at the
beginning of the semester you graduate. Be sure to indicate the
appropriate one of STAT 4013 or STAT 4023.
If the College of Education has allowed substitutions (for mathematics
courses) on your degree plan, then you may still be in a position to
receive the Second Major in Mathematics. You can contact me or any
mathematics advisor for further information.
I would be happy to talk with you at your convenience regarding your
future in mathematics.
