Hello to math ed majors,
I am writing to make you aware of your opportunity to obtain a second major in mathematics. WHEN YOU COMPLETE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR A BACHELORS DEGREE IN SCED WITH THE MATHEMTICS OPTION, THEN YOU WILL HAVE COMPLETED ALL REQUIREMENTS FOR A SECOND MAJOR IN MATHEMATICS. There are no additional courses that you need to take in order to earn a second major in mathematics. There are two steps you need to complete in order to have the second major in mathematics appear on your transcript when you graduate.
Step 1: Go to Arts and Sciences Student Services (LSE 213) and fill out a form declaring mathematics as your second major.
Step 2: In you senior year of enrollment, pick up a Second Major form from the Department of Mathematics. Any mathematics adviser can help you complete that form.
Your work in the College of Arts and Sciences and in the College of Education entitle you to recognition from both. I encourage all of you to take advantage of this opportunity.
