Hi everyone.

I am writing to let you know that Birne Binegar will be retiring on September 1. Birne had a long career at OSU and made significant contributions in research, teaching, and service. Let me mention just two highlights. First, he was involved in the ATLAS of Lie Groups project and helped move that collaboration towards its successful computation of the Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials for split E8. Secondly, he played a vital leadership role on Faculty Council during some very challenging times, and managed to build consensus whilst protecting faculty interests.

I'm sure you'll all join me in thanking Birne and wishing him the best for the future.
