We have now made all offers for the four Assistant Professor Positions. Having completed all interviews for our assistant professor positions, I wanted to let the faculty know where we are: Walter Rusin has ACCEPTED our offer. Jiri Lebl has been extended an offer. I am meeting with Roger this afternoon and we will discuss extending two more offers (the Dean approved 4 offers for this year). Oded Yacobi accepted a position at University of Sydney and David Jensen accepted a position at University of Kentucky. The faculty has been tremendous in supporting the colloquia and the other demanding aspects during our recruitment; I am asking that you give the same support for just a couple more weeks as we start our recruitment for our Clinical Faculty positions. bus William "Bus" Jaco Regents Professor, Grayce B. Dear Faculty, We have now (nearly) completed our interview with Jiri Lebl, the last of the interviews for a tenure track position. Please send me your comments on the candidates we have interviewed, especially the most recent two (Lebl and David Jensen). The appointments committee will meet on Wednesday afternoon to decide on a recommendation to Bus with regard to offers. Update: Oded Yacobi has declined our offer in favor of Sydney University. An offer was made to Walter Rusin; the offer was accepted (with enthusiasm) almost immediately. Roger

Dear Faculty, The appointments committee will meet on Wednesday and will likely recommend that we make another offer for a tenure track position. Please send your comments on the most recent interviewees, Sergiy Borodachov and Walter Rusin, as well as any of the other candidates we have seen. Update: As you know an offer was made to Oded Yacobi. Oded has a couple of other offers and another interview; he will be making a decision in the next week or so. Reminder: On Friday David Jensen, an algebraic geometer, will interview and next Monday Jiri Lebl, a several complex variablist and CR geometer, will interview. These will be the last of our interviews for the tenure track positions. Roger

Dear Faculty, We have recently completed interviews with Elena Pavelescu and Jay Schweig for our tenure track positions. The appointments committee would like to hear your comments on these candidates. Update: Bus has made an offer to Oded Yacobi. Oded has had a few other interviews and will likely have another offer(s); he will make a decision in about two weeks. Tomorrow we will interview Sergiy Borodachov. He works on analysis and approximation theory. On Monday (1/11) we will interview Walter Rusin. The itinerary for his visit is similar to the others. Walter's area of research is PDE. We hope you will take part in the interviews. Roger

interview update for tenure track position

Dear Faculty, There has been a change in the interview schedule for our tenure track positions. We had tentatively scheduled Alex Fink for the beginning of next week. However Fink will not be coming then. In order to move things along a bit we have moved Jay Schweig's interview to next week. Jay will interview on Wednesday (Feb. 6). His interview will be like the others; in particular there will be time for faculty to meet with him, there will be a colloquium as well as dinner at a restaurant and there will be a party at the Francisco's house in the evening. Angie will be distributing an itinerary with the details of his interview. Roger
