Sabbatical proposals

Dear colleagues, The College sent out information this morning about sabbaticals for next year. Attached are the sabbatical leave form, a description of the sabbatical policy from the Faculty Handbook, and information about what is required in the sabbatical application. If you intend to apply for a sabbatical during the 2018-9 academic year, please let me know. I would like to have your completed proposals by Friday, October 27, so that I can have a few days to write letter(s) of support. A&S FY18 Spring Travel Program

Dear colleagues, Attached is some information about the A&S FY18 Spring Travel Program. This program supports research and research-related travel by providing grants up to $500 for travel in Oklahoma and contiguous states and up to $1,000 for travel outside the region. If you intend to apply for departmental travel funds for research-related travel this spring, please also apply for A&S funding as well. We will generally prioritize those who apply for the A&S funding over those who do not. Please give me your proposal electronically as a single file by Tuesday, October 3. I will submit the Department's proposals as a group with my narrative. The workshop is intended for for faculty within the sciences (broadly defined) to learn techniques to communicate their research to general audiences. I was waiting to contact heads/faculty until I knew our allotment from the VPR’s office. We have been given 7 slots. As such, this will be a competitive process. If you already sent this to faculty, that is fine. If you send any follow-ups, please let faculty know that we need a commitment of their interest to attend by September 15th. They need to confirm they can attend both days. And, they need to send to be a statement on how this opportunity will advance their research agenda. For those faculty who have already contacted me, I will contact them directly to request this info. Also, if you have a faculty member in mind for this and want to send me an name, I can solicit the materials from them directly as well. Thanks for your help.
