Redbud conference at OU

Dear Topologists and Friends of Topology, It's time to begin organizing rides down to OU for the Redbud conference on the 3rd. Please e-mail me if you are planning to go. Let me know if you will be able to drive, and if so how many additional mathematicians you can fit in your car. There is funding available to cover mileage and also lodging if you would like to spend a night in Norman. (Note that spending Friday night would mean not having to leave Stillwater at 7am on Saturday. Also, by state regulations, you can only get a per diem to cover food if you spend the night.) Please also let me know if you want to do this, since this will affect who rides with whom. To get the conference rate, reservations must be made by the 29th, so this should be decided soon. Jesse

Fall Redbud conference at OU

Dear Topologists and Friends of Topology, The conference page is now up for the Fall conference at OU, which includes hotel information. There will be travel funding available to cover lodging and mileage to and from Norman. Max has asked everyone to register by October 18th (next Thursday) if you plan to go. The special rate on the rooms is available until October 29th. Because the conference is in-state, the reimbursement paperwork can all be filled out after the conference. I'll send out another e-mail about arranging rides for anyone who doesn't have a car when the date gets closer. Jesse

Dear Topologists and Friends of Topology, This is a reminder that Jeff Mermin is giving the seminar this afternoon at 3:30 in MSCS 514. Title: Simplicial, Cellular, and CW resolutions Abstract: One of the most exciting recent developments in commutative algebra has been the discovery that free resolutions of multigraded objects such as monomial ideals can be encoded using topology. I'll explain what free resolutions are and describe the connection.

If you're interested in joining us, please let me know so we can arrange a time and place to meet.
