Hello everyone, Today Henry will be speaking at 2:30 in room 405. His title and abstract are here: Title: Dehn surgery by shearing Abstract: I’ll talk about a new (to me) way to think about Dehn surgery. We implement (p,q) Dehn surgery within a solid torus by slicing along an annulus from the boundary to the core curve, then regluing with a varying amount of shear around the annulus. ______________________ Neil R. His title and abstract are here: Title: Genus bounds in right-angled Artin groups Abstract: I will discuss how to find lower bounds for stable commutator length in rightangled Artin groups.
