Today at 3:30 in MSCS 445, Eric will be presenting in topology seminar as part of his qualifying exam. His title and abstract are below.
Title: More infinite families of homology lens spaces of lower bounded complexity
Abstract: We replicate a computation of Boyer and Lines [BL90] concerning closed orientable 3-manifolds, exhibiting infinitely many prime integral homology lens spaces, M, such that M is obtained by p/q Dehn surgery along a knot in an integral homology sphere, but M cannot be obtained by such a surgery along any knot in the 3-sphere. We then demonstrate additional families of such spaces. Notes: This is a qualifying exam.
