Minutes for Meeting of the Graduate Committee October 14, 1997

Issues discussed:

• Creation and Scoring of Comprehensive Exams by Committees
  Advantages and disadvantages of a committee system were discussed. General agreement on a format was completed. Before the next meeting Alspach will provide a draft proposal for a committee system.

Updates on Work in Progress

• A new pamphlet utilizing the Graduate College model is being designed.
• The Jobe Fellowship plaque is now on display.
• A test version of the abbreviated handbook used in recruiting is viewable from Alspach's home page.
• The Task Force has reached some agreement on a revision of the MS Applied Option.
