Minutes for Meeting of the Graduate Committee January 27, 1998

Issues discussed:

• Brief version of the handbook will be used for mailing to prospective students, Graduate Mathematics Weekend, and as a web introduction to the graduate program
• Update on Graduate Mathematics Weekend:9-13 expected
• Update on applications received: Several good students, but more applications needed.
• Discussion of the grace period after second exam failure: No change in policy will be implemented. Support will be terminated at the end of the current semester. Students will be notified by the Department Chairman that their support will be terminated.
• Discussion of offers to students for Fall 1998 was initiated.
