Minutes for Meeting of the Graduate Committee September 30, 1997

Issues discussed:

• OSU Mathfest
  After a review of last year it was decided that we would plan to have a similar program this year. This is tentatively scheduled for February 6-7, 1998. Based on comments from last year's attendees some adjustments in scheduling and content will be considered. Financial concerns and travel expenses for particpants was discussed.
• Creation and Scoring of Comprehensive Exams by Committees
  Advantages and disadvantages of a committee system were discussed. Committee members were asked to attempt committee assignments for each exam and consider which pairs of exams might be assigned to the same committee.
