E. K. McLachlan Award

Dr. E. K. McLachlan was Professor of Mathematics at Oklahoma State University from 1958 to 1978. He was the department's director of the graduate program from 1965 until 1978. During this time 46 Ph.D.'s, 79 Ed.D.'s and over 100 Master's degrees were earned in the department. He advised all of the graduate students in both an official and personal way. He was gentle, clear, and firm.

The intent of this award is to reflect the academic spirit of Professor McLachlan in a doctoral candidate. It may be given at most one time each spring semester. The recipient's name is placed on the E. K. McLachlan Award plaque that is displayed in the mathematics department.

Requirements for the E. K. McLachlan Award

  1. The award will be given to a graduate student that has passed his/her doctoral departmental examination in mathematics.
  2. The student must have passed his/her doctoral departmental examination within one year of receiving the award.
  3. The amount of the award is determined at point of review.
  4. The student should have an outstanding graduate academic record.
