Graduate Minor in Mathematics
November 15, 1999

The Department of Mathematics offers a Graduate Minor to those graduate students who complete substantial upper division or graduate work in mathematics. A Ph.D. student must take at least two graduate courses in mathematics. A statement of the precise requirements is on the following page.

The requirements should guarantee that a Master's student minoring in mathematics acquires at least as much mathematical competence as one obtaining an undergraduate degree in mathematics. However, the Department of Mathematics waives the following specific requirements.

1.
Math 3613 and Math 4023
2.
The two six hour breadth requirements for upper division hours in Computer Science, Physics or other field or courses numbered 4000 and above in Mathematics or Statistics.

The following courses are suggested as being especially suitable for graduate students minoring in mathematics.

Requirements for a Graduate Minor in Mathematics

To receive a Graduate Minor in Mathematics a student must have completed Math 2145 (Math 2144 after 2002), 2155 (2153 and 2163 after 2002), 2233, and 3013, or their equivalents, either at Oklahoma State University or elsewhere. In addition,

A list of courses to be used for the minor must be submitted to the Graduate Committee of the Department of Mathematics for approval. No course with grade below C can be used as part of a minor and the grade point average for all coursework constituting the minor must be at least 3.0.

There is no minor for Ed.D. students.
