Dear All: On Friday at 3:30 PM, we will have a presentation in MSCS 514 by Allison Dorko of Oregon State University titled: Perspectives on supervision, coordination and teaching entry-level mathematics She is a candidate for a Clinical Faculty position here at Oklahoma State. Please come and hear her ideas on these important aspects of our mission. There will be light beverages in MSCS 423 before the talk at 3PM, and a reception at 4:30PM in MSCS 423. We will also take our visitor out to dinner at 6:30 PM Friday at a place to be decided tomorrow. If you would like to join us, please feel free and let me know. David Wright

Hi Math Kiddos! First off, I'm sorry if you shouldn't be getting these emails. If you have emailed me that you want to be taken off the list, then I sent the email to our emailing list administrator, so hopefully you will actually be taken off the list! Sorry again. and secondly, Math club is Tuesday, February 21st at 5:00pm in MSCS 514! We will be competing in an integration bee, so I hope you're not too rusty! The winner will take home a $50 gift card and the second place winner will take home a $20 gift card! That's crazy considering how small math club is. Hi all!! Math club is coming up in ONE week! Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 5pm. If you want to participate in the integration bee, get there kinda early so we can get you signed up. The first place prize is a $50 gift certificate and the second prize is $20 so you don't want to miss this! Pizza will be served when we are done (we're shooting for 6pm)! I hope you can make it. Hey Math Friends! I hope you had fun at the last meeting learning about puzzles that make you smarter! Our next meeting is not for a little while (Actually, February 21st), but I thought I would give you a heads up for my plans. Since we didn't have anyone wanting to give a fun/intellectual talk about math, we decided to have another competition (everyone loves a good 'ol classic style spelling bee competition!). Okay, well it's not a Spelling Bee, per se, but this game works similarly. It's an Integration Bee. Each participant will work on integrals, every subsequent one getting harder. Don't worry, you don't have to do them in your head or recite them out loud. You work individually on a piece of paper and the last man standing, the 1st place winner, will take home a $20 Hastings gift card and the 2nd place winner a $10 Hastings gift card. Keep in mind that you are only eligible if you have paid your dues and are a member (only $5). So, Hint Hint.... Brush up on some integration techniques if you want to play. Math Club!

Hello, Let me begin by apologizing if you are not supposed to be receiving this email! We are working on getting your contact off of this list, but sadly, it's not in my control. Anyway, The first math club meeting will be Tuesday, January 24th at 5pm in MSCS 101. We will be learning about puzzles that make you smarter like KenKen™ and double Sudoku as presented by Dr. Mantini. As always, there will be Pizza and soda provided. If you haven't paid dues, now would be a great time to pay. It's only $5 a year and goes towards eating pizza and other fun funding. :) If you are a student who has completed Calc 1 and 2 and two courses requiring Calc 2 as a prerequisite (i.e. Calc 3 and Differential Equations, usually) then you are eligible to join our national honors society. It's $25 for a lifetime and it looks good on resumes AND you can wear our cords when you walk at graduation. Hope to see you all there, Tyler
