2006-2007 Activities
- Thursday, April 12, 2007, 5:00-6:00 PM, MSCS 101.
Math Club Meeting including recognition of graduating seniors and
election of new officers.
- Thursday, March 29, 2007, 5:00-6:00 PM, MSCS 101.
Math Club Meeting including Math Jeopardy, a game for teams of three players.
Questions will include pre-calculus, calculus, linear algebra, math in the movies,
math history, and math jokes, so there will be something for everyone to answer.
Prizes will be awarded to the winning team!

Symmetry and Sudoku, a talk by Dr. Lisa Mantini
on constructing and solving double sudoku problems coming from
orthogonal Latin squares (from the Senior Honors Thesis of Cameron
Fincher). Pizza will be served!

from Harvey Mudd College on Voting from an Algebraic Perspective,
also recognition of December graduates and induction of new members
of Pi Mu Epsilon (cancelled due to closing of university after
major snow storm).

November 16, 1998 - Symmetries of Decorative Art -- Border Patters
Speaker: John Wolfe, Department of Mathematics, Oklahoma State University.
Where and When: 445 MS (on the OSU Campus); 4:00 pm.
Abstract. Symmetries of Decorative Art can be approached from
a mathematical point of view (group theory) or a graphic artist point of
view. A little of both approaches will be included. Particular emphasis
will be on the classification of borders. Understandable for all majors
and levels of understanding. Bring your friends!

Speaker: Craig McIntyre, Department of Mathematics, OSU.

Abstract. The best job in America - but what is an actuary?
Mr. MacIntyre will discuss the basic tools needed by an actuary. He will
discuss some of the real world problems that confront actuaries in the Property
and Casualty side of the business. He will also give suggestions for classes
